We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic intern who will support UNV Sub-Regional Office for Europe and CIS in its advocacy and outreach efforts, as well as development and maintenance of its social media presence. In addition, the intern will be tasked with supporting Regional Portfolio Manager in data collection, research and analysis related to mobilization of UN Volunteers in Field Units assigned to Sub-Regional Office.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) in a degree programme in a relevant discipline (digital marketing, web management, graphic design, social media, communication) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in the organisation of key events and communication opportunities, such as conferences, discussions, webinars, workshops and report launches;
Contribute to drafting of various communication materials, as well as talking points, briefing notes, official correspondence;

Under the direct supervision of Kishan Khoday, UNDP Regional Team Leader for Climate Change, DRR, Energy and Environment, the UN
Youth Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Support the development of UNDP country projects in areas of climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction to achieve SDG 13 and the national plans;

In September 2015, Uzbekistan along with other UN member-states supported the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Currently, cooperation between UN agencies and the Republic of Uzbekistan is carried out under the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for 2016-2020. Later, as a pathway towards achieving the SDGs and in support of UNDAF for 2016-2020, the country adopted its Development Action Strategy 2017-2021 in five priority areas which is formulated around conceptual issues for the socio-political, socio-economic, and cultural-humanitarian transformation of the country.

The International UNV Specialist on Programme Coordination, Monitoring and Evaluation will work in close collaboration with UN Coordination Analyst, UNCT and UNDAF Result Groups’ members, and other colleagues in UN Agencies to ensure successful implementation of obligations taken by UN within the
framework above-mentioned UN-Uzbekistan cooperation agreements.

Resident Coordinator and direct supervision of Head of RC Office, the International UN Youth Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

Climate Justice remains a cross cutting issue. As a matter of principle, climate change is a global challenge affecting the entire
world and humanity as a whole. Apart from that, scientists predict increasingly severe consequences of climate change for generations yet
to come. The concept of climate justice addresses this unequal
allocation of benefits and burdens by relating climate change to
matters of social justice and human rights. We consider climate justice as an inevitable brick in building a sustainable future and creating a just and fair society.
By taking active steps against climate change and demonstrating
solidarity with most vulnerable population groups and peoples, we
assume our responsibility in the global sustainability challenge and seek to do our part in attaining climate justice.
Together with local communities, volunteers shall work on grassroots
projects that combine manual work and awareness raising actions. These address issues such as: climate change, carbon offset, environmental
sustainability, protection of responsibility in the global sustainability challenge and seek to do our part in attaining climate

The programme targets at least 6 volunteers per year. We understand that one volunteer may not possess all the requirements thus role sharing is encouraged.

While executing their duties, the volunteer (s) shall be working like in a home away from home.

Altogether, we are developing an "Environmental Education Hub" Project - Where we promote climate/environment
friendly solutions, a responsibility for everyone for the benefit of generations to come. Sustainability should be the idea of comfort. We work to ensure local vision especially for young people like children, and women-headed households is clear inaddition to needs.

We encourage and organize that our volunteers live in host homes. The Pacific Small Island Development States (PSIDS) are threatened by natural hazards such as cyclones, earthquakes, tsunami, volcanoes, droughts and floods. Such is the extent of their vulnerability that majority of the PSIDS face grave consequences from global warming and the negative effects of climate change as well as geophysical hazards.

As part of UNDP’s ongoing efforts in Disaster Risk Management (DRM), the UNDP Pacific Office in Fiji promotes preparedness, early recovery, resilience and risk-informed development. UNDP is guided by the Sendai Framework of Action and its five priority areas for Disaster Risk Reduction. Within the UNDP Strategic Plan, building resilience through disaster risk reduction, preparedness, response and recovery is a priority and aimed at supporting countries efforts to reduce the likelihood of conflict and lower the risk of natural disasters, including from climate change.

The International UN Youth Volunteer will provide critical support towards three inter-related objectives; i) Enhanced capacities of the UNDP Pacific Office towards management of climate change and disaster resilience related projects and programmes; ii) Successful implementation of the Russian funded RESPAC project with specific focus on technical advice on and innovative support to RESPAC initiatives especially in the areas of Climate Early Warning Systems (CLEWS) and Disaster Finance; and iii) novel and sound business development and pipeline management enhance the ability of UNDP Pacific Office to leverage and maximize various partnerships and opportunities for development financing. It also contributes to
ensuring financial sustainability of the organization through enabling better informed and more accurate resources projections and making necessary adjustments in internal resource planning. Yields vs Output:

Output (which the project popularises) means you have a variety of foods, you are looking after the soil, water retention, biodiversity and so on. It's a win-win situation and central to land-use, agro-diversity and so on.

Productivism is an.obsession, which compels farmers to exploit all their resources, soil and so on. The word exploit is apt because it undermines and degrades all resources and labour, which is not sustainable in the long-run.

Vandana Shiva teaches us that ecology in agro is the way to go; output instead of yield is better for everyone, including the soil. Vandana Shiva was also referring to nutrition, cultural factors like appropriate cuisine, food sovereignty and so on.
