WHERE IS THE VOLUNTEER
In Colca, near Cusco.
Colca is a community 40.90 km away (25.41 mi) from Cusco. But that to get there we must cross the Apurimac River canyon traveling a total of 104 km (64.9 mi) along a road that draws the mountain.

GOALS
Promote sports, meditation and healthy eating.
Carry out activities that offer opportunities to children in vulnerable conditions.
Promote environmental care, respect for culture and human values.

VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES
+ Teach values to school children.
+ Teach English, communication and mathematics to children aged 7 to 12 years.
+ Promote the practice of sports such as football, basketball, volleyball and others.
+ Cut grass and feed the guinea pigs.
+ Plant native trees in the school field.
+ Help cook in our host's house.
+ Participate in agricultural activities to residents of Colca.
+ Participate in community activities for the good of the environment.
+ Hikes and tours around Colca.

FOOD AND ACCOMMODATION
A family welcomes the volunteer in their house, here they will have a room, as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner.

VOLUNTEER SCHEDULE
MONDAY TO THURSDAY
7:00 am. First food You drink tea, coffee or light food.
7:30 am. Feed the guinea pigs.
8:30 am Breakfast. Consistent in something consistent to withstand the work of the day.
9:00 am. Start of activities scheduled for this day.
12:30 pm. Lunch.
1:30 p.m. Break.
2:30 p.m. Cut grass for the guinea pigs and bring to the guinea pig's house.
3:30 p.m. Classes with the children.
17:45 pm Dinner.
This schedule is flexible, according to the willingness of the volunteer.

FRIDAY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
You can take days off or join us in agricultural or communal activities.

ECONOMIC CONTRIBUTION
USD 12.00 per day (three meals and accommodation)

Hoa Mai Children Home is the half way home for 50 abandoned children. Their families are broken due to divorce or financial difficulties. The home takes them in and gives them accommodation, food and arranges for them to go to school for general education. There are only two care-givers who look after the children and they are burdened with the task of providing care and life skills for the children. Volunteers are expected to help with the following programs:
- Helping the youngest children aged 4 to 6 years old with daily life activities such as : bathing, dressing, cleaning face, teeth
- Assisting with cleaning and tidying the bedrooms and living environment
- Assisting our Vietnamese English teacher to teach basic English, arts, crafts, music and sports
- Assisting with taking the children for outing trips for sports and entertainment
- Teaching other life skills

Bui Thi Xuan Primary School is a daily boarding school for 100 underprivileged children from Vi Tan village. Due to the financial needs, their parents have to move to the big cities to work. The children are left behind with their relatives such as grandparents, aunts and uncles. The children attend the school for an education illiteracy program but many subjects are left out, especially English, arts, crafts and sports. Volunteers are expected to help with the following programs:
- Assisting our staff to teach basic English, personal hygiene
- Teaching arts, crafts and sports
- Teaching games and life skills

Volunteers will work in a team with our local staff and other volunteers to carry out the above activities.On your arrival, our team will give you a few days of orientation and training. We will help you to plan activities and lessons and accompany you to the placement sites to conduct the activities.

Volunteers assist our staff and local social workers and teachers to care and teach around 100 children aged from 4 to 18 years old. The children are abandoned by their parents so there is a great for care and education. Typical volunteer activities are:

We are a non-profit organization ( NPO). We do not receive any funding from the government or donors to run our programs. We solely rely on volunteer placement fees to operate. By paying our fees, you will help us to carry out our mission in helping the people of Vietnam. Your fees are for:
- Volunteer house/ meals/ transportation to and from work during your stay
- Support staff team ( 24/7) to give pre-departure information/support/ pick up and training on arrival and accompany you to the placement sites to carry out activities
- Donations for needed materials and supplies for the centers and schools we support
- Language and cultural activities and local sightseeing for you during your stay
- Emergency support for medical health and safety
In general, the fees will cover most of your daily needs when you are with us. You only need to budget for your personal expenses and travels to explore the country.

The project is a community-focused initiative that aims to improve water quality, quantity and restore habitat for wild species through planting of 25000 water friendly, economic and medicinal trees. Further it will educate 100 youths in the community on sustainable forest management, tree planting and monitoring. This project has a target timeframe of 4years. More so, it focuses on restoring degraded areas within the catchment and forest. This forest is a habitat for the god’s of this community thus a historical area.This forest provides clean water for over 6500 people living in the Chomba community, plants and animals.

Volunteer Tasks
A childcare volunteer's help is always welcome by the staff at the centre who are constantly busy. Volunteers may be asked to assist with the bathing of the children, dressing them, feeding them, as well as helping to keep them entertained and happy.

Recreational Games
A childcare volunteer would be expected to teach the children some recreational games and activities. One of the best things that a volunteer could do is to play with the children. However, the volunteer must be aware that HIV infected children are prone to infections so games and activities must take this aspect into consideration.

Songs and Rhymes
One of the best ways to connect with children is by singing and dancing. Most kids like to sing and dance. Childcare volunteers may teach the children basic educational games through rhymes and fun songs and at the same time improve their English skills. Volunteers should do their homework prior to their placement and bring a repertoire of great songs & rhymes to teach various lessons.

Household Chores
A childcare volunteer may be asked to help in the general cleaning of the centre and help in the preparation and delivery of meals, as well as assist in maintaining an attractive appearance to the building and its grounds.

Family, group, Senior, couple and disabled Participants: The projects are open to everyone regardless of their gender, ethnic background, and religious conviction or sexual orientation. All in all, we would like to place equal numbers of male and female volunteers.
Families, groups, couples, seniors (65+) and program Participants with disabilities, are encouraged to apply and join the program. You need to contact us in advance so that we can prepare appropriate environments that fit your special needs.

Participants are expected to pay a non-refundable participation fee of €120 per week. Keep in mind, Participation fee does not cover any of this: the cost of medical/health services, all types of insurances, cost of transport to the community after the orientation, relevant Visas or permits, airport drop off on departure date, pocket money, free/leisure activities and other personal expenses. However; your participation fee cover the cost of airport pickups on arrival, orientation on arrival, food during the project, transport to project site and other designated project activities as well general running cost of the program.

Volunteers at Centro Infantil de Los Angeles generally work the same jobs. We understand you have skills to offer, and are so grateful of your desire to share your talents and abilities, but if everyone did whatever they wanted, we would not have much structure. The Daycare program is designed specifically to reach important goals at critical ages, and with the limited time we have with our kids every day it´s important that we build in a sense of accountability and hit the benchmarks we think are necessary in preparing for early childhood education.

The tasks of volunteers in the daycare fall into two categories: a) childcare tasks, and b) entertainment. The childcare can include everything from changing diapers, wiping faces, cleaning up after meals, brushing teeth, taking children to the bathroom, and serving food. Volunteers are responsible for delivering food trays to the classrooms twice per day. This will all be explained during orientation.
The entertainment part is a bit more fun, and this may be where you get to use your own specific talents. The entertainment or enrichment activities are meant to stimulate and challenge young minds, and provide the foundations necessary for preschool. These activities include engineering projects (building blocks), athletic conditioning (playtime), art appreciation (coloring), geometry (shapes), and music theory (you can play them songs on the guitar). If you have any ideas, talk to the coordinator or your teacher about fun activities you want to try!

For your donation of both money and time, Volunteers at Centro Infantil de Los Ángeles are provided room and board at our volunteer house. Depending on when you come, and how many people are here, you may get your own room. We can’t guarantee that, though. Rooms are fully equipped with private bathrooms. There is Wi-Fi throughout the house, in bedrooms and in common spaces, and as long as it’s working it is usually very fast.
Volunteers are not required to stay at the Volunteer House, and we will not expect the same level of donation for volunteers who live off-campus. However, we still ask for a donation from all volunteers even if they’re staying off-site. Please consider the costs of lodging in San Miguel de Allende, as they can be very high, and the Volunteer House is a great value. Plus, the money goes directly to the children.

During a volunteer's stay with us, they are assigned to help at the daycare or kindergarten, usually in a particular classroom. Volunteer work includes: playing with children, arts/crafts, helping feed and changing babies' clothes, assisting with field trips, leading story-time, or etc. Long-term volunteers with more specific skills can engage in other projects if they wish.

There is no fee associated with our volunteer program, however we ask for a donation of $180 per week or $600 per month for housing and meals. This includes staying in our fully-equipped volunteer house, which has laundry, WI-FI and Cable, a full kitchen, private bathrooms in each room, an amazing terrace that overlooks the city, and a housekeeper every day. Your donation includes two meals per day included in the daycare center made by our talented culinary team. It is very rich traditional Mexican food that is as good as anything in a restaurant!
