The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that promotes volunteerism to support peace and development worldwide.

Duration of the project is 12 months Expected Starting Date: Immediate The Kyrgyz Government has demonstrated full commitment to the implementation of SDGs and benefited from UN support to integrate the SDGs into upcoming strategic development cycle. Two important strategic processes have been launched in 2017 – in spring 2017 the President’s Office started the formulation of the new Country’s development vision - National Sustainable Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2018-2040 “Zhany Door” (New Epoch) has been developed followed by the wide national consultations process. The Strategy 2040 sets forth three main priorities: i) economic well-being of the people; ii) social welfare; and iii) security and favorable environment for lives of citizens. The newly appointed Prime Minister presented his Government Programme “Unity, Trust, Creation”. The Programme sets forth key development priorities for Kyrgyzstan in the implementation of 2040 strategy in the coming five years: transparent public administration, economic growth and human well-being. The UN Volunteer will work within the UN RCO, located in UN House and will work/cooperate with all UN agencies continuously support assessing relevance and performance of policy initiatives seeking new opportunities to innovate and make more relevant the development dialogues. The UN Volunteer will work closely and support the UN SDG group on conducting policy dialogue with an aim to support evidence-based integrated policy formulation in Kyrgyzstan by providing a platform for discussion, exchange of analyses and sharing international good practices on key development issues among government, development partners, civil society, academia and private sector. Qualifications/Requirements Required Degree Level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education: Social, political sciences, development studies, international relations, public administration, communications or related field Required experience: 0 months Demonstrated interest and/or experience (up to 2 years) : -- organization/ making inputs of development dialogues/development planning, supporting the process of policy dialogue or in relevant field; -- promoting, planning, and/or implementing policy dialogue activities -- contributing to discussions around policy at all stages including development, dissemination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation -- supporting development and implementation of a strategy for dialogue and a plan for monitoring and evaluation. Under the direct supervision of the UN Coordination Officer (RC Officer) and under the overall supervision of the UN Resident Coordinator (RC), the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: - Search global and regional knowledge on development dialogue policies that can improve approaches to dialogues by international agencies and sector ministries as a means to achieve positive outcomes for sustainable development and adding value by bringing the language and insights of each constituency to the other - Assist in development of policy papers, products, presentations tailored to different audiences, workshops, conferences that showcase the unique perspective of Development dialogues (read the full list of tasks here: https://www.unv.org/sites/default/files/special_calls/KGZR000029.pdf)

A UN Volunteer receives a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) per month and is paid at the end of each month to cover housing, utilities, transportation, communications and other basic needs. The VLA can be computed by applying the Post-Adjustment Multiplier (PAM) to the VLA base rate of US$1,282. The VLA base rate is a global rate, while the PAM is country-specific and fluctuates on a monthly basis according to the cost of living. Allowances provided are: - volunteer living allowance: a monthly allowance intended to cover basic living expenses - travel expenses: for travel to duty station upon appointment and for repatriation at the end of the assignment - settling-in-grant: a grant calculated on the duration of assignment, paid at the beginning of the assignment - insurances: life, health and permanent disability insurance - annual leave - resettlement allowance: calculated based on the duration of assignment, paid upon satisfactory completion of the assignment.
