The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that promotes volunteerism to support peace and development worldwide.

Duration of the project is 12 months Expected Starting Date: Immediate The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN’s global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. We are on the ground in 170 countries and territories, working with governments and people on their own solutions to global and national development challenges to help empower lives and build resilient nations. The UNDP Multi-Country Office (MCO) is located in Suva, and the UNV Field Unit (FU) in Fiji is based within the UNDP. The UNDP MCO and the UNV field unit provide knowledge, experience and resources to 14 countries in the Pacific: Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu, Samoa, Tokelau, Niue and Cook Islands. The UNV Field Unit currently consists of a Programme Assistant, responsible for the all the UNV activities in the region. UNV FU supports and facilitates activities of the National Volunteer Steering Committee (Fiji), which objective is to advocate and to promote volunteerism in Fiji. It has currently approximately 20 volunteer involving organizations as its members. Furthermore, UNV participates in a network of international volunteer sending organizations. Annually, UNV celebrates the International Volunteer Day (IVD) that takes place in December, in collaboration with local and national partners. Qualifications/Requirements Required Degree Level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education: International Development; Journalism; Media and Communications; Business Management; or in the related fields Required experience: 0 months Experience Remark - Up to 2 years of proven interest/relevant work experience in the area of journalism, particularly in print and digital industry, such as magazines and online or corporate communications; - Excellent writing skills and preferably experience in the area of human development; - Experience in devising and executing social media strategy, particularly on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram; - Demonstrated experience (up to 2 years) in Business, Data Based management (Customer Relationship Management tools) Data Analysis and/or Information and Communication management Language Skills: English (mandatory) , Level - Fluent

Under the direct supervision of the Team Leader, UNDP Inclusive Growth Unit and UNV Programme Assistant, the UN Youth Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: For UNDP Inclusive Growth Unit: 1. Assists the innovation hub and a co working lab in strengthening partnership communication and visibility, including development of programme communication materials. 2. Supports organizing entrepreneurship accelerator programs and events. For UNV Field Unit: 1. Assists UNV Field Unit in strengthening its communication and visibility, including development of programme communication materials with UNV common branding. 2. Support the timely management and production of internal and external communication material and knowledge products (brochures, t-shirts, banners, reports, information sheets, feature articles, radio spots etc.). A UN Volunteer receives a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) per month and is paid at the end of each month to cover housing, utilities, transportation, communications and other basic needs. The VLA can be computed by applying the Post-Adjustment Multiplier (PAM) to the VLA base rate of US$1,282. The VLA base rate is a global rate, while the PAM is country-specific and fluctuates on a monthly basis according to the cost of living. Allowances provided are: - volunteer living allowance: a monthly allowance intended to cover basic living expenses - travel expenses: for travel to duty station upon appointment and for repatriation at the end of the assignment - settling-in-grant: a grant calculated on the duration of assignment, paid at the beginning of the assignment - insurances: life, health and permanent disability insurance - annual leave - resettlement allowance: calculated based on the duration of assignment, paid upon satisfactory completion of the assignment.
