What the volunteers can Learn in this Camp? (study part) - Participants will perform field tasks but also learn about nature conservation and engage in conservation-training activities, while getting to know the Portuguese fauna and flora; - Participants will interact with biology students that are doing their studies in the nature areas where we are going to work; - Participants will also learn why nature conservation is important and how small environmental projects such as these workcamps can be crucial to preserve an entire habitat; - Encouragement of international exchange and exchange of experience; - Presentation and discussion of the natural and social reality of the regions of origin of the participants; - Promotion of environmentally and socially responsible attitudes and values; - Development of action-training actions focused on individual and collective learning; - Get to know local culture and traditions.

Our team includes biologists, forest engineers, land planners, ecotourism and sports professionals, designers and marketeers, historians and professional environmental educators/science communicators. We work together for over 18 years, aiming at bringing nature and biodiversity to all. In the last 5years we have planted over 15000 trees, restored over 20ha of degraded habitat, financed 4 scholarships, and promoted over 15000 collective actions of community/environmental volunteering.

- Restoration and clearance work of some degraded trails and natural heritage; - Vegetation trimming and removal; - Improvement of local fauna, flora, and landscape, including fire prevention actions; - Building nest-boxes for birds, insects and bats; - Cleaning a pond for wildlife; - Control invasive species; - Presentation and discussion of the natural and social reality of the regions of origin of the participants; - Promotion of environmentally and socially responsible attitudes and values; - Development of action-training actions focused on individual and collective learning.

Participants will sleep in sports complex near QEM, on mattresses and with their sleeping bags. There will be 2 shared rooms (separated by gender). There are hot water showers also separated by gender in sports locker rooms. Participants have to bring their own towels and hygiene products, sleeping bag or sheets+blanket, and pillow. The organization will provide breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Lunches and dinners are prepared/cooked served at a canteen from Santa Casa da Misericórdia’s social complex, but some lunches will be served in the field (sandwiches, fruits, etc.), as well as mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks.
