Daily program/ Timetable

Volunteer work is for only 4 1/2 hours in the morning every day, in the afternoon, we have free activities such as sports, Kenya traditional dance classes, traditional cooking classes, and sports. Weekends are made for exploring our country and Safaris with local volunteers and your fellow overseas volunteers. Below is a tentative Weekdays timetable;

6:00 am - if you are feeling motivated, you are welcome to join the daily meditation or morning exercise of running / GMY
8:00 am - We serve a delicious and healthy breakfast
9:00 am - 13:30 pm - Volunteer work
14:00pm to 18:00pm - Complementary activities (free time activities stated below)
4:00 pm - Yoga class, and learn Kenyan traditional songs, Dances, and cooking that will make you love Kenya even more, including our local Swahili language if interested. The classes are suitable for all levels and usually last about an hour and a half.
8:00 pm - Dinner is served

Our program is designed especially for those who want to experience the life of rural and slums community farming, climate change, and other sustainable activities such as organic farming, Reforestation, and Working with art and educational programs for the children living in and around the community. It is also a great opportunity to meet people from around the world who constantly visit us, and exchange experiences.

Your experience volunteering with us will not only allow you to positively impact the world, but you will also have the opportunity to become fully immersed in Kenyan culture. What We Provide

Our prices include food, accommodation, and back up. We have set prices on a weekly basis. See the prices page for more details.

Accommodation

Local host families are carefully selected because they are friendly, welcoming, and will go out of their way to look after our volunteers. Where we can’t provide host families we place our volunteers together in secure accommodation.

Food

We will ensure you are provided with 3 square meals a day.

Back-up

We have well trained staffs in all the communities we engaged. Staff can be contacted 24 hours a day. They are responsible for your general well-being and liaise with your placement, accommodation, and support.
Volunteers incur small costs on placement since CSAG does not have a sponsor at this moment. This will be waived as soon as we receive sponsorship to place volunteers. Your cost now depends on the length of your stay and your accommodation preference.
Program Fees, EUROS €150 for each extra week

Volunteering in a daycare is quite similar to the teaching projects in the day. You’ll be helping the teachers conduct their lessons, helping with drawings, sports, games and pupil learning. However there is an added dimension- you’ll be assisting with the general care of the children in the Daycare. Duties such as cleaning the roooms and clothes and helping with the cooking of meals for the children, as well as playing with and entertaining them. It’s a fuller but more demanding role than that of school volunteering, as you will be building emotional bonds of care with the children and providing pastoral support. A typical Daycare in Tanzania is home to sixty children ranging in age from 2 to 7. A nursery school teaching program usually takes place during the day. Approximately 40 children in total will attend the nursery school. Volunteers in this teaching program help teachers to do their lessons, drawings, sports and games.

Roles of Volunteers and Interns



· Teach in one of our classes (we have four different classes at the moment)

· Provide children with HIV / AIDS prevention education

· Provide first aid/medical help to children

· Teaching the children about basic house holdings:

1. Cleaning of utensils

2. Cooking

3. Sweeping

· Bathing the children and wash their clothes

· Play with children

· Help us to create new ideas for the development of Daycare


Accommodation
HOME STAY ACCOMMODATION

Living is basic but all the Home Stays have electricity and running water and accommodate volunteers in safe and secure homes (some rural home stays may not have electricity or running water during times of drought). All home stays have been inspected thoroughly by local staff and chosen because of their safety and security. Most volunteers love their home stays and feel that they get a more authentic Tanzanian experience by staying there.


VOLUNTEER HOUSE

The Volunteer House is a western-style house with 6 bedrooms (all shared accommodations with bunk beds). It has 2 bathrooms with western-style toilets and occasional hot water for showers. The house also includes one double bedroom, and this room is generally reserved for married couples. The house is safe and secure, with a security guard and a large gate. In the volunteer house, there is a cook who cooks the meals for the volunteers.
(Please note that spaces in the volunteer house are very limited and can only accommodate 18 to 24 people).

You will be provided with 2 meals daily. Breakfasts generally consist of Chai (tea), toast, cereal, fruit and mandazzi (deep fried dough). Dinner usually sees traditional food such as ugali, chapatti, boga and irio accompany the meat and vegetables.

Tanzania is home to some of Africa’s most famous parks and the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro rising above the Serengeti. Most visitors will find themselves passing through Dar Es Salaam and heading out on safaris and various wildlife viewing adventure. For those who want to take a break and spend some time soaking up the sun, the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar beckon. Off Pemba and Mafia Island is a whole other kind of natural wander.
