This is a great opportunity for volunteers who want to Teach English in Monasteries. There are several Tibetan refugees Camps and Monasteries that house hundreds of Tibetan kids taking Buddhist monk educational training in Kathmandu to preserve the amazing cultural richness of Tibet and Buddhism practice. Knowledge of English can be an enormous help to these kids to explore more scriptures written in English and circulate Buddhist teachings practice to the whole world. As a volunteer you will be placed in a monastery where you will Teach English to monks. Depending on monastery size you will expect the number of student’s monks from 15 with moderate or beginners level English. The monks study Buddhist as a major subject. English, Nepalese and others are optional in order to improve their additional language skill. Volunteers can also have a chance to participate in some monasteries run programs like meditation, praying and other cultural celebrations.

Training and orientation: Volunteers will be met at the airport by a Future Nepal representative holding a placard with volunteer’s name and Future Nepal on it. The representative will take volunteer to guest house. All we request to our volunteers please provide us your flight information as soon as possible so that a punctual pick-up can be arranged. Upon Volunteers arrival in Kathmandu we offer 3 days to 1 week of orientation and training at Future Nepal office, depending on the type of programs. These training help volunteers to understand our organization, various programs and opportunities, country, Nepali language and culture, safety measures, visa issues, dos and don’ts, etc. During the orientation and training period in Kathmandu, we organize the sightseeing around the Kathmandu Valley 3 hours every day. After finished orientation and training we placed to volunteer volunteers on their respective placement.

Placement: You will be  placed inside a monastery. You will be offered Nepalese food Dal/ bhat (rice, lantil soup, vegetable curry) 2 times a day for lunch and dinner. They also offer you tea and bread on breakfast and light snacks on day tea. You will be teaching English to monks 3-4 hours a day. There are around 30 monks. Their age range is 6-15 years old. You will be teaching 5 days a week, Monday to Friday. Saturday and Sunday class off. You can spend your spare time with monks by playing games, chatting or go sightseeing around. You will have great opportunities to participate in every cultural task like daily round Puja (praying), meditation and other cultural festivals.

The program fee covers -Airport pickup and drop off -Language and cultural training in Kathmandu (3 days to 1 weeks depending on length of volunteer) -Sightseeing in Kathmandu -Specialized training for your chosen program -Accommodation at hotel during training period in Katmandu -Land Transportation to village placement -Accommodation and meals with your host family during the placement -Accommodation at hotel for one day before departure -24 hours Volunteer supervision and office administration -Legal Service -Contribution to Future Nepal Program e.g. Women Group in various part of Nepal, Income Generating Training, Children Research Center, Environment Awareness, Social development, Cultural Activity and Tourism Festival.
