Full description
Volunteer Tasks A childcare volunteer's help is always welcome by the staff at the centre who are constantly busy. Volunteers may be asked to assist with the bathing of the children, dressing them, feeding them, as well as helping to keep them entertained and happy. Recreational Games A childcare volunteer would be expected to teach the children some recreational games and activities. One of the best things that a volunteer could do is to play with the children. However, the volunteer must be aware that HIV infected children are prone to infections so games and activities must take this aspect into consideration. Songs and Rhymes One of the best ways to connect with children is by singing and dancing. Most kids like to sing and dance. Childcare volunteers may teach the children basic educational games through rhymes and fun songs and at the same time improve their English skills. Volunteers should do their homework prior to their placement and bring a repertoire of great songs & rhymes to teach various lessons. Household Chores A childcare volunteer may be asked to help in the general cleaning of the centre and help in the preparation and delivery of meals, as well as assist in maintaining an attractive appearance to the building and its grounds.
